In our thoughts
It is with great sadness that we announce that St Francis’ first ever Manager Mrs Ruby Oliver has passed away. The Trustees send their sincere condolences to Ruby’s family and friends.
Ruby’s love for animals was in her DNA and she dedicated 40 years of her life to St Francis. She was quite simply the best.
Ruby’s exemplary dedication and service to the care of animals was rewarded in 2005 when she was invited to attend a garden party by Her Majesty the Queen at Buckingham Palace. Ruby was also honoured to receive a Good Citizen award from Newquay Town Council for her 40 years of dedication to St Francis.
Ruby was supported by her husband the late Colonel Michael Oliver and two of their three children were born at Beaver Lodge. In the early days St Francis not only rescued dogs, but also cats, horses and goats!
Ruby has always remained in close contact with St Francis and one of our long-standing Trustees Jennie Gough has regularly visited Ruby over the years since she retired. Ruby was very excited about the new plans for the Centre.
Rest in Peace Ruby. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We will never forget you.
