Fluke is a 11 month old Border Collie boy. He has arrived as a youngster with some fairly complex behaviours that we are working through. However, as he is a youngster we thought wecould introduce him to our supporters as the set-up he requires is so specific. We are hopeful that whilst we work through some of his issues, a new owner may be out there that is equally equipped to help this young lad out.
Most of his issues stem from a lack of socialisation when he was a tiny pup with his mum. We will happily talk to potential adopters about all of these and they have a lasting affect on poor Fluke. He was then given a new home by a very kind family but they have had to admit that his needs do not match his future needs despite their very best of intentions.
Whilst we try and help Fluke and his complex issues the home he needs is a rural one. Somewhere quiet, with space and a steady adult based family that he can grow in confidence with. He won’t be housetrained for a while so tiled floors throughout most of the downstairs would be essential in the short term. This will come with time but Fluke has so many fears about the outside world that this will take a long time to get more confidence with.
Fluke is not well socialised with other dogs. Again, the root of this is in his background prior to his recent owner. This does mean that although with some help this MAY improve, we do not know this for sure and a new owner will need to be in a position where Fluke doesn’t need to be meet other dogs. He certainly cannot be rehomed where there is another dog already in the home.
Fluke has no experience with cats and will need a new owner who is at home most of the time and ready, not only for normal ‘puppy’ issues but also for lots of fear and anxiety based issues too. He is a highly anxious lad and although the potential to improve is huge, he will always have this nervous side and will need a new owner who can help him. He will also need a secure garden area. This is essential to help with many of his training needs.
Fluke is not suitable to be rehomed with children but for the right active home, in the right location where he will be mentally and physically stimulated, older teenage children may be considered.
We will be helping Fluke out with some of his many fears and his obedience and confidence but if in the meantime he is the sort of project that you are looking for then please get in touch.
