Ruby is an 8 month old German Shepherd/Mastiff cross. She was recently rehomed from St Francis but was returned due to issues which meant that she would be best placed in a more adult home. We will happily talk through those issues with anyone who is interested in her.
She is a complex ‘little’ lady who really needs a calm, training orientated owner who is ready for the challenge of bringing a young large dog up and helping out with some manners. Ruby exhibits lots of behaviours which stem from anxiety in different circumstances so needs a new owner who is prepared to recognise those behaviours and work with her. With the right handling and training and a couple of months of investment into her needs, this pup will turn into a lovely well rounded young lady.
She would be best suited to an ADULT only home but for the right person, older teenage children would be considered.
Sadly at this point Ruby would be best placed as the only dog in the home. She is friendly with other dogs but doesn’t read them well and doesn’t have an ‘off switch’ around them so could end up bullying another dog through ‘over-play’ if she lived with one full time. She is not suitable to live with cats.
Ruby suffers from separation anxiety as well so will need new owners with lots of time on their hands, a nice secure garden area for her to have fun in and someone who understands that she is a very clever lady who just needs the right direction to set her on the right path. She travels well in the car so could possibly keep you company if you have an active outdoorsy lifestyle and are looking for that perfect companion.
Ruby is a very social girl with people, she wants to be your friend but by that very nature, she doesn’t want you to go either. Who might be interested in a big overgrown puppy?
