Giving up a Pet

Making a decision to part with your much loved dog can be heartbreaking and it can be very difficult to decide who is best placed to help you with this process.

We are a compassionate charity that cares about people as well as dogs and we pride ourselves on being able to offer a rehoming service and an experience for current owners that is non-judgemental.  Our aim is to make this difficult decision as easy as we can.

We are usually busy so we commonly cannot accommodate immediate requests but we look at each situation on a case by case basis.  We do operate a waiting list for admissions into the Centre and we will aim to help you as soon as we can.

The Process

  • We would like to talk to you about your dog, the reasons that you need to part with your dog and ask a few simple questions.  Once you have completed the enquiry form below, a member of the team will call you to discuss further.
  • Once we have had a chat and hopefully put your mind at rest, we will add you to our waiting list for admissions and we will then contact you once we have kennel space free to admit your dog.
  • Once we book an admission appointment for you we will take your dog away from you for an initial assessment.  This is not a ‘test’ but is a chance for us to meet your dog and see what issues, if any, we may need to help your dog with while he is with us.  After this assessment we will then sit down with you, and your dog, and go through a questionnaire.   These questions will give us an overview of the needs of your dog and help us to help your dog to find its new home.
  • You can bring anything you wish to bring with you that may help your dog to settle in a kennel environment such as its bed or favourite toy.

If you are in the difficult position where you think you need to part with your dog, you can either call us or complete the attached form and a member of the team will call you as soon as we are able to do so.
