- Volunteering
There are many ways that you can make a significant contribution to St Francis.
What are the volunteering opportunities?
The obvious one that initially comes to everyone’s mind is working directly with the dogs on site. Whilst this will be possible when our new kennels are built, at the moment, we do not have any dogs living on site.
There are, however, lots of other areas in which we need help:
Transport
Transporting dogs to foster homes, to vet appointments, bringing to site for training for example or to deliver food to a fosterer who cannot drive.
Home Checkers
When St Francis has found a forever home for a dog, it is always subject to a thorough home check. We need volunteers who can carry out these home checks for us. This is a vital part of the re-homing process. We need home checkers in all parts of the county.
Events
Do you have time to represent St Francis at events? We need volunteers to attend fetes, fairs, dog shows, educational events etc etc, promoting the charity, selling donated goods and receiving donations. These events are vital to raise awareness of what we do.
Maintenance
Are you good with maintenance? We always need help keeping our grounds tidy, grass mowed, fencing secure, equipment maintained and buildings in good repair.
Social Media
Are you good with social media? We need a Media Support Volunteer.
Collection Tins
If you don’t drive or if you only have a limited amount of time to give but want to make a difference, consider helping us to get our collection tins into local shops and business. You would be responsible for sourcing establishments that are happy to have one of our branded collections tins, ensuring they are checked and exchanged on an agreed frequency and returning/having collected the full tins to St Francis. Our collecting tins raise a significant amount of money for the charity and is an important part of our local fundraising,
This list is not exhaustive and we regularly have events where prospective volunteers can come along, meet existing volunteers and find out how you can help.
